Where did Metronova start?
Perth teenagers Metronova sat down with Heather Cameron to tell us where it all began, and how they came up with their name.
H: How did Metronova become a band?
M: A group of us including us three had a little band going back in 2013. But we were just playing
covers and messing around, then some of the other members decided music wasn't for them andit ended up being just me, Tahlia & Shania. From then on in early 2014 we started getting serious about the band and making our own music.
H: I'm very glad you 3 girls stayed and kept going for music! What are your rehearsals generally
like
M: We usually get together every Sunday and just go through all our songs a couple times when
there isn't anything important coming up, but when we have show in the future we organise a fewof our best songs and rehearse them in order and what we are going to do/ say on stage so we'reprepared!
H: What advice do you have for people who want to start their own band?
M: I would say if you really want to do music, then find some people who have the same passion as you and get together and jam some covers, and see how well you all play together!
Also if you're gonna make your own songs, each member should have a say in how it sounds!
H: Is there anyone you'd like to thank?
M: There is quite a few people. Jasmin & Bianca from Aligned Entertainment for always giving us awesome advice and setting up our shows on the East Coast as well as perth!
Our parents for driving/ flying us around to all our gigs and our mates in Terra & Close The
Distance! Oh and our friends and family for supporting us!
H: Well without all of these people you would of never been were you are today, and parents are
amazing when it comes to needing help. Is everyone in your band self taught or have taken
lessons?
M: I taught myself how to sing and play guitar, Tahlia taught herself how to play bass and at first I
taught Shania the basics of drums a long time ago but she has taught herself most of the things
she knows
H: How did you come up with the name 'Metronova'?
M: We had an old name which was 'Every Single Step' but we didn't like it at all so decided to
change it, and we mixed the words supanova and metronome together (I have no idea why) and
came up with Metronova!
H: I think of supanova every time I see your band's name! Now for the random question... If you had to eat one food for the rest of
your life, what would it be?
Tahlia says: My Nonna's pasta
I say: the same because it's amazing, would never get sick of it!
Shania: Bananas
H: By any chance is Shania a minion
M: Well she does have the love for bananas in common with them but she is really tall unlike the
minion hahahaha
H: What is your favourite thing your fans have done?
M: They have done a lot of amazing things! But I think the main one would be the fact they make
the effort to come watch us play and download our music, that is the best.
H: Fans who come and watch you are always good just having people around you who love
listening to music you make. Where can we find your merchandise/music?
M: At the moment we don't have merchandise but you can find our music on YouTube &

H: One final question, where would you like to tour?
M: Oooo good question! We would like to mainly tour all around Australia! But one day hopefully it would be cool to play in the US and Europe!
