Buoy, oh Buoy, look out Australia!

Buoy oh Buoy are made up of 4 fellas from Taree, New South Wales. Check out our interview with them below to see what goes on with them behind the scenes, and who has helped get them established in the Australian music scene.

H: What are your rehearsals like?

BOB: They normally rely on when we can get Raff Watt, our drummer, into the Newcastle area; he is a very busy AV Technician when he isn’t hitting stuff. So we generally set our rehearsals a week in advance around both his and my full time job schedules.

H: What advice do you have for people who want to start their own band?

BOB: Just play with as many other musicians as you can. Even if there aren’t any, create some.

Jamming is the only way to progress as a band.

H: Is there anyone you would like to thank?

BOB: Hamish McDonald from Paradyme Studios is a legend!

H: Have you all taken music lessons or did you teach yourselves?

BOB: We all have had lessons at some stage years ago. Harry is the only one of us that is still getting lessons at the Conservatorium in Newcastle (he’s going to be one of the best guitarists ever, you wait), I’ve never received any singing lessons though.

H: Buoy Oh Buoy - where'd that name come from?

BOB: We were trialling heaps of working names to see if any would gel when we decided to start a new band but ultimately our friend/ part time manager came up with it thank god. The ones we were coming up with sucked.

H: If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

BOB: Bacon.

H: What's the best thing you're fans do?

BOB: A few fans from overseas get in contact with me every now and then and that is just something that blows me away; the fact that something I do purely for my own enjoyment can have a positive impact on someone’s day anywhere around the world.

H: Where can we find your merchandise/music?

BOB: Our music is featured on our Triple J Unearthed profile, Facebook and Soundcloud and will soon be on ITunes and Spotify. For merchandise just send us a message on Facebook. (CLICK HERE)

H: Where would you like to tour?

BOB: The world! But if I had to choose somewhere specifically it would be England, I think they would really like our music over there.
